Cincinnati 2011-2012

 

We produced 19 in-school presentations during the 2011-2012 school year in Cincinnati, Ohio, USA schools that were attended by nearly 5,000 students .

On Friday, May 25, 2012, The Wade Baker Quintet performed a presentation at College Hill Fundamental Academy.

On Thursday, May 17, 2012, Todd Hepburn performed two solo piano presentations at Madeira ElementarySchool.

On Wednesday, May 9, 2012, Todd Hepburn performed two solo piano presentations at Madeira Elementary School.

On Friday, March 16, 2012 at 2:30p,  world-renowned jazz saxophone artist Greg Abate performed in a quintet at Dater Montessori with Marc Fields on trombone, Lee McKinney on drums, Phil DeGreg on piano and Phil Bowden on bass.

On Wednesday, March 14, 2012 at 2:15p,  world-renowned jazz saxophone artist Greg Abate performed in a quintet at Kilgour Elementary with Marc Fields on trombone, Lee McKinney on drums, Phil DeGreg on piano and Phil Bowden on bass.

On Tuesday, March 13, 2012 at 1p,  world-renowned jazz saxophone artist Greg Abate performed in a quintet at Sands Montessori with Marc Fields on trombone, Lee McKinney on drums, Phil DeGreg on piano and Phil Bowden on bass.

On Monday, March 12, 2012,  Todd Hepburn performed two solo piano presentations at Linden Grove school.  Linden Grove School offers an alternative learning program for students primarily diagnosed with an autism spectrum disorder and who struggle in a more traditional school setting.

On Friday, March 9, 2012 at 1:30p,  world-renowned jazz saxophone artist Greg Abate performed in a quintet at Roselawn Condon with Marc Fields on trombone, Lee McKinney on drums, Phil DeGreg on piano and Phil Bowden on bass.

On Monday, March 5, 2012,  Todd Hepburn performed two solo piano presentations at Linden Grove school.  Linden Grove School offers an alternative learning program for students primarily diagnosed with an autism spectrum disorder and who struggle in a more traditional school setting.

The six presentations we just did in August through December, 2011 (below) were attended by nearly 2,000 Cincinnati Public School students !!!

On Thursday, December 15, 2011 at 1p at Bond Hill Academy, an amazing thing happened. Blues guitarist Noah Wotherspoon performed with world-renowned trumpeter Gary Winters, Brian Aylor on drums, Da'Rosa Hathaway Richardson on keyboards, Rob Thaxton on bass, Marcos Sastre on guitar, Casey Ott on guitar and Ben Walkenhauer on saxophone.  And, Philip Paul joined them performing "Hideaway" and "Tore Down" in a tribute to King Studio legend Freddy "The Texas Cannonball" King being inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame this coming April, 14, 2012.  Philip Paul was Freddy's drummer at King Studio, including both of these songs. 

By the time we finished, all of the students were dancing in the bleachers !!!

On Tuesday, November 22, 2011 at 1pm, King Studio legends Philip Paul and Ed Conley (on drums and bass) were joined by Randy Villars on piano & tenor saxophone and Wade Baker on trumpet, flugelhorn & piano in a Jazz presentation at Sands Montessori for grades K-3. Sands' music teacher Tony Barkley joined the presentation, singing "Blue Sky" and "America, the Beautiful". Click here to see them performing "The Girl From Ipanema".

On Thursday, October 27, 2011 at 1p, Blues guitarist Noah Wotherspoon performed our first Blues presentation at Midway Elementary in a five piece group with Brian Aylor on drums, Da'Rosa Hathaway Richardson on keyboards, Rob Thaxton on bass and Ben Walkenhauer on saxophone.

On Friday, October 14, 2011 at 1pm, world-renowned jazz saxophone artist Greg Abate performed in a quintet at Pleasant Ridge Montessori with Marc Fields on trombone, CCM graduate Chris Barrick on vibraphone, Lee McKinney on drums and Phil Bowden on bass.

On Friday, October 14, 2011 at 9:30am, world-renowned jazz saxophone artist Greg Abate performed in a quintet presentation at Pleasant Hill Academy with Marc Fields on trombone, CCM graduate Liz Wu on vibraphone, Lee McKinney on drums and Phil Bowden on bass.

On Tuesday, August 30, 2011 at 1pm, Brian Andres and a slightly abridged version of the Afro Cuban Jazz Cartel performed in a quintet presentation at College Hill Fundamental Academy.  The band included Chris Barrick on vibraphone, Bill Jackson on bass, Stan Ginn on congas, Larry Feldner on keyboard and quite a few students joining the fun on the school's marimbas.

On Tuesday, August 30, 2011 at 8:30a, Brian Andres and a slightly abridged version of the Afro Cuban Jazz Cartel performed in a quintet presentation at Winton Hills Academy.  The band included Chris Barrick on vibraphone, Bill Jackson on bass, Stan Ginn on congas and Larry Feldner on keyboard.
