Cincinnati 2015-2016

Unfortunately, it rained both days of our Cincy Beerfest on Fountain Square, so we were not able to give out grant checks to schools in late 2015.  We already had funds set aside for our annual Big Joe Duskin Foundation Orchestra concert, so we went forward with that.   Here are the details:

On Wednesday, February 10, 2016 at 7pm, the 2nd performance of the Big Joe Duskin Foundation Orchestra was at Deer Park High School, performing the greatest hits by Cincinnati native Frank Foster.  This was a fundraiser to help pay expenses for the Deer Park High School marching band to study and perform at Disneyworld.  Deer Park's jazz ensemble performed the first few songs, then our orchestra perform an evening of all Frank Foster compositions and arrangements, including "Blues In Hoss' Flat", "Shiny Stockings", "Four Five Six", "Easin It" and many more. King Studio legend Philip Paul performed drums on "Shiny Stockings", which Frank Foster wrote about a childhood friend who later became Philip's first wife, Juanita Paul. 

With 21 musicians all together, you better believe we all had a great time !!!

Our Cincy Winter Beerfest on Feb 12 & 13, 2016 at the Duke Convention Center was a great success. 

Many thanks to the 13,000 craft beer lovers who attended !!!

We sent $11,000 in grant checks to the following public pre-schools and elementary schools for their music education program:

Newport Pre-school Center - $500

Covington James E. Biggs Early Childhood Education Center - $500

Newport Primary - $1,000

Covington Ninth District Elementary - $1,000

CPS - Academy of World Languages - $1,000

CPS - Frederick Douglass Elementary - $1,000

CPS Hays-Porter Elementary - $1,000

CPS Roberts Elementary - $1,000

CPS Rothenberg Elementary - $1,000

CPS - South Avondale Elementary - $1,000

CPS - Westwood Elementary - $1,000

CPS - William Howard Taft Elementary- $1,000

The rest of the proceeds from the 2016 Cincy Winter Beerfest will be used to fund our next orchestra performance on Saturday, Feb 18, 2017, two memorial plaques for Pigmeat Jarrett at Allyn's Cafe & H-Bomb Ferguson at Mansion Hill Tavern and five in-school performances of a "King Studio tribute band" arranged by Philip Paul and Otis Williams.  These performances are part of the new King Recording Studio "travelling suitcase" program.
