Cincinnati 2016-2017
Everything we do depends on proceeds
from our Cincy Beerfest On Fountain Square (Sept 9 & 10, 2016)
and Cincy Winter Beerfest (Feb 17 & 18, 2017).
Please support both
events,
"neither snow, nor rain, nor
heat, nor gloom of night" !!!
www.CincyBeerfest.com has all the great
details.

Mark your calendar for Saturday, Feb 18, 2017. Yes, that
is the weekend of our Cincy Winter Beerfest at the Duke Energy Convention Center, but it is also the
weekend of Macy's Arts Sampler produced by ArtsWave. Our Big Joe Duskin Foundation Orchestra will be performing Count
Basie and Frank Foster tunes at the library downtown 1:30-2:30pm. The Cincinnati
Youth Jazz Orchestra from CCM is
performing before us and the Hank Mautner

The Marines donated 15 small, one-octave xylophones to 35 Cincinnati public
elementary schools in early November 2016. We've been promoting xylophones, glockenspiels and marimbas
for years, because they work so well for young children, so this is an opportunity we are jumping
on.
We bought two 30-bar glockenspiels for 10 schools and are hiring CCM-trained
Liz Wu and Josh Strange to spend two
hours at each school three times, helping in music classes. We also published our
"Grade School Blues" educational CD for the public to play and download with instructions for using it on our
Teacher & Parent Downloads
page in the left column. January & February should be interesting months for this
program.

We installed two large, beautiful memorial plaques for Blues legends
Pigmeat
Jarrett and H-Bomb Ferguson. Pigmeat's is outside at Allyn's Cafe along McDowell St at Columbia
Parkway in Columbia-Tusculum. H-Bomb's is in the flowerbed next to Mansion Hill Tavern at 5th & Washington in
Newport.
Many thanks to Sewah
Studios in Marietta, OH for their great plaques
!!!

We produced six in-school performances for a "King Studio tribute band"
supporting the new King Recording Studio "traveling suitcase" program produced by
Xavier University. The completed list is
below. King studio legends Philip
Paul and Otis Williams headlined this amazing band at North Avondale Elementary on Friday,
September 30 to close out King Studio History Month in perfect style. And, yes, the kids went
wild. Philip & Otis were joined by Randy Villars on piano/sax, Noah Wotherspoon on guitar/vocals and Jon Massey on upright bass. Wade Baker joined
in the fun in the last few, too.
9/30/2016 - North Avondale Elementary
10/28/2016 - William H Taft Elementary
11/10/2016 - Hays-Porter Elementary
11/16/2016 - South Avondale Elementary
1/6/2017 - Roberts Paideia Elementary
1/27/2017 - Frederick Douglass Elementary
Looks like students at Roberts Paideia liked our presentation and
glockenspiels...
