Welcome to BigJoeDuskin.org !!!

Music education for young children seems to be considered a luxury in America.  Absolutely not. It is more of a requirement than Reading, Writing and Arithmetic.  Click here to learn how music education increases children's intelligence and "learning to play a musical instrument changes the brain, leading to a slew of potential benefits, including improved learning and understanding of language."

Our mission is:

"To provide educational music experiences and encouragement to participate in school band for as many public elementary students as possible, primarily using local professional musicians."

In the panel on the left, you'll find pages with all the info on the great things we've been doing.  6,000+ Greater Cincinnati, Ohio, USA elementary students saw our 26 presentations in the 2012-2013 school year. And 10,500+ students saw our 30 presentations in Greater Columbus, Ohio, USA that we funded thru the Jazz Arts GroupWe also donated $5,000 to the World Piano Competition's Bach-Beethoven-Brahms program for inner-city school children and just did that again for the upcoming 2013-2014 school year. We also donated $5,000 to Northern Kentucky University's EMPOWER outreach program, $1,000 to Sycamore High School's choir toward new uniforms and $500 to Piner Elementary's annual Music Blast fundraiser at Turfway Park on Saturday, August 24, 2013.

Of course, you'll also find some great history about boogie-woogie pianist Big Joe Duskin.  Enjoy your visit and let us know if you have any questions or info we could add to the website.

Some of our beerfest volunteers needed a charity to sponsor them in the Bourbon Chase 200 mile relay marathon from Louisville to Lexington, KY, USA on October 18 & 19, 2013.  Yes, 200 miles...   So we did.  Yes, it rained, but we had a great time, as you can see.

Just after crossing the finish line in downtown Lexington, KY, USA in less than 30 hours.
Yes, 200 miles, running, in less than 30 hours !!!

And, of course, video of them crossing the finish line !!!

You need to have money to be able to spend it.  That's why we go out of our way to make as much money as we can at our fundraisers, so we can pay musicians $125 each to perform in public elementary schools and encourage children to join their school band.

Please support our upcoming fundraisers below:

The Big Joe Duskin Foundation Orchestra is available for high school fundraising events. Our 20+ piece jazz and blues orchestra will perform in your auditorium and students of your choice can solo with them. If your band and school actively sells tickets to the event, we will guarantee it does not lose money. Your music department will directly receive 50% of the net proceeds and 90% of our half will fund our presentations in elementary and middle schools that feed into your high school. The final 10% is our administration fee, which is only 5% of the total raised.  That is well below the accepted and normal 16%-17% for non-profit organizations.

You really cannot lose.  We're making sure.  We're doing our first one at Rushville High School in Indiana on May 15, 2014.

Email Wade Baker or call him at 812-631-1119 to get things started.

Lonely Instruments for Needy KidS (LINKS) could really use some help supplying school requests for instruments. Alto saxes and flutes in particular, but everything helps. They can be donated at any Buddy Roger's Music Store. Click here for full details on LINKS. Click here to join the LINKS Facebook page.
