Our latest and greatest news:
September 24, 2008
Big Joe's friends at the American Music Research Foundation asked us to help promote their 10th Annual Motor
City Blues & Boogie Woogie Festival. Joe performed at it the first 3 years they had it. All the info is at www.amrf.net.

We are very proud to announce
that Cincinnati's Goddess of the Blues, Cheryl Renee, and Dayton's Boogie Woogie Master, Jimmy D. Rogers, have graciously agreed to lead the Big Joe Duskin Boogie Woogie Orchestra !!! This will start off as
"practice sessions" with just Cheryl & Jimmy getting to know each other and deciding what songs they want to
do. Yes, this will be history in the making that you won't want to miss. The rest of the details are just
below.August 28, 2008
A brand new BYOB club named
The Lyric is opening Sept 21 and has offered us every Tuesday for Big Joe Duskin Music Education Foundation night.
How could we say no? Just park in the lot beside Lucy's Deli at 8907 Reading Rd. and it's behind you. This was a silent movie theatre, turned church, turned
banquet hall with a new balcony. $5 cover ($3 under 18) and BYO alcohol. Mixers and snacks will be available at
reasonable prices. We're lining up performances that can't be seen anywhere else, so plan on being there every
Tuesday you can starting September 30. Doors open at 6:30pm and music from 7-10pm. Calendars listing all events
at The Lyric will be available soon at Lucy's Deli.
The 1st, 3rd & 5th Tuesdays will be "practice
sessions" for the Big Joe Duskin Boogie Woogie Orchestra, a new large touring show band we're attempting to put together.
Some of these people have not played together before and others not for a long time, but we think you'll enjoy it.
The 2nd Tuesday is Marcos Sastre & Friends. Marcos founded the Blue Birds 17 years ago and has been lead guitar player ever since.
Great singer in a band of great singers, too. The 4th Tuesday is Dennis Williams & Friends. Although some people know him as "Mr. Bekah", Dennis is better known as Willy
D. He is an amazing singer with a huge repertoire and can tear up a guitar with the best of them. We have no idea
who they are inviting to join them, but we're pretty sure you'll enjoy them, too.
Three more nights
at The Lyric are being presented by Play It Forward, the musician aid non-profit started by Gary Burbank (yes, rumor has it Gary will be making some surprise appearances at The Lyric when he can). The
1st & 3rd Wednesdays are Wade Baker & Friends. Most people know Wade as the bass player for the Jon Justice Band, but he's also a masters jazz trumpet student at CCM. This will be jazz, for sure. Jon Justice's new CD has already sold over 5000 copies and rumors
are flying, so we're hoping Wade can do this as long as possible, but they could be heading out on tour anytime.
Jon played lead guitar in The Recipe, a nationally touring band, before moving here and forming his own band. Finally,
the 1st Thursday is Bam Powell and Friends. Believe it or not, Bam was the drummer in LeBlanc & Carr when they were supposed to
open for Lynyrd Skynyrd when the plane crashed on the way to the first show of the tour. Lucky for us, Bam & a couple
others decided to drive to the first show... Bam's bands include The Raisins, Stagger Lee, The Blue Birds, The Goshorn
Brothers, Curley, Tickled Pink & Bucket, among others, we're sure. He's even sung on McDonalds, Skyline
and Hudy Delight commercials, so you already know his voice.
Once again, doors open at 6:30p and music from
7-10p for all nights. $5 for adults & $3 for under 18. Yes, this is a family-friendly venue. Bring your
aspiring young artists and let them get inspired. Yes, this is also non-smoking.February 23, 2008
The 1st Annual Midwest Winter Beer Festival chose our foundation as one of
their two charities for the event. We were able to spread the word about the foundation and raise $1995.00 for our in-school
presentations. We're currently in the process of scheduling the first three presentations using this money.
Many thanks to Craig Johnson for selecting us. Rumor has it there will be an annual summer version starting this
year, too. Stay tuned for details.

The first annual Big Joe Duskin Memorial Birthday Party was simply amazing. Every single artist
donated their time and had so much fun. And we sent Big Joe off the way it needed to happen. Everyone needed that.
