Welcome to BigJoeDuskin.org !!!

Music education for young children seems to be considered a luxury in America.  Absolutely not.  It is more of a requirement than Reading, Writing and Arithmetic.  Click here to learn how music education increases children's intelligence and "learning to play a musical instrument changes the brain, leading to a slew of potential benefits, including improved learning and understanding of language."

Our mission is:

"To provide educational music experiences and encouragement to participate in school band for as many public school students as possible, primarily using local professional musicians."

In the panel on the left, you'll find pages with all the info on the great things we've been doing.  Since 2010, over 20,000 students have seen our 70 performances in Greater Cincinnati elementary schools.  We changed gears a bit in fall 2014 and started writing checks to elementary schools for their music programs.  We choose schools based on their state exam scores, starting at the bottom of the list.  Music education for young children improves their language, math and science skills and these are the children who need help the most.

Click on Cincinnati in the left panel for all the details.

We are dedicating our memorial plaque for Big Joe Duskin on Saturday, February 6, 2016 at 1pm at Sonny's All Blues Lounge.  It is being installed in a nice flowerbed on the north side of the building.

We are continuing our high school program !!!

On Wednesday, February 10, 2016 at 7pm, please join us for an evening of the greatest hits by Cincinnati native Frank Foster at Deer Park High School. This is the second performance of the Big Joe Duskin Foundation Orchestra !!!

This is a fundraiser to help pay expenses for the Deer Park High School marching band to study and perform at Disneyworld !!!

Deer Park's jazz ensemble will perform the first few songs, then our orchestra will perform an evening of all Frank Foster compositions and arrangements, including "Blues In Hoss' Flat", "Shiny Stockings", "Four Five Six", "Easin It" and many more.

With 21 musicians all together, you can't help but have a great time !!!

Tickets are available at the school office or call 513-891-0010.

Click here for our Facebook event with a complete list of all the great Frank Foster songs we're performing and the amazing musicians who agreed to perform.

Our orchestra is available to perform high school fundraisers like this and community events throughout Greater Cincinnati.

And please remember, all of this is made possible through proceeds from the Cincy Winter Beerfest (Feb 12 & 13, 2016) and the Cincy Beerfest On Fountain Square (Sept 9 & 10, 2016).

www.CincyBeerfest.com has all the great details.

We couldn't do this without your support !!!

King Studio legend Philip Paul will perform drums on "Shiny Stockings", which Frank Foster wrote about a childhood friend who later became Philip's first wife, Juanita Paul.

Lonely Instruments for Needy KidS (LINKS) could really use some help supplying school requests for instruments. Alto saxes and flutes in particular, but everything helps. They can be donated at any Buddy Roger's Music Store. Click here for full details on LINKS. Click here to join the LINKS Facebook page.
